About

I found CrossFit in early 2012 and quickly became addicted. Having learned most of the olympic lifts in high school, I had a solid base that came back to me quickly. There are so many things about CrossFit that I enjoy. I like that the workouts are almost always different, getting sucked into monotony bores me quickly and would surely cause me to lose interest. I like that CrossFit has well-rounded, I’d like to think I can run faster and further than a weight lifter, but can also lift more than a runner. I like that CrossFit allows me to complete and be pushed by others, yet really the only person I am competing with is myself. And the thing I like most about CrossFit is the sense of community that it is built around. Everyone pushes each other. Everyone encourages each other. Everyone stays until the last person is done with the workout. The people in the gym are like a second family.

To me Paleo is more than just a diet plan. It is a lifestyle that has changed my life in so many ways. As of April 2013, I have lost 25 pounds because of Paleo. Paleo doesn’t require counting calories or points. It’s simple, eat when you’re hungry. I have always had a love for food and cooking. There was a time in my life when I would spend hours upon hours watching the FoodNetwork on television. I have worked in restaurants and helped with banquets as well. Paleo has changed my thoughts about food, yet allowed me to continue to explore food, to enjoy food, and to eat food. I am constantly coming up with new ideas and new meals, of which I really need to get better at writing down so I can share them with others. I will work on that!

Going back a little further, I have always been a helper. I get a great sense of fulfillment getting to help other people. I have been a Firefighter and Paramedic since 2005 and cannot think of any other profession that allows me to help other people (but admittedly the schedule and other perks are nice as well – think driving a big red truck with lights and sirens on!).

I think this is really what spurred me to start blogging about CrossFit and Paleo. If I can help someone change their life, whether it be motivation, or recipes, or a better understanding of why or what something is, then I have done what my job. I know that I am not the strongest in the gym, and on a good day I can be one of the fastest, and I am alright with that. I do CrossFit and live a Paleo lifestyle for me, but if I can help other people out while striving to better my life then I am happy. I have made many great friends because of CrossFit and Paleo, people I probably would have never crossed paths with. I am lucky that I get to do all fo these things while tryng to keep up with my wife. Admittedly, she is the one I try to keep up with in the gym. She is also the one I get to try new recipes out on!

I hope that people can use my blog as a quality source of information. Please try recipes. Try something new, you never know if you may like something you haven’t had before. If you have sugestions, or questions, please let me know. I want to help, that’s why I am doing this!

    Good Afternoon,

I am currently working on an article about Crossfit. I came across your blog and was hoping to ask you a few questions to gain better insight:

Do you recommend Crossfit to anyone?

    How can Crossfit benefit you?

What’s the hardest part about Crossfit?

Are injuries likely when beginning the practice?

What do you think is the most important aspect of the Crossfit lifestyle?

Any other information that you think would be beneficial to this article would be extremely helpful. It’s for George Mason University.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

    Becca
